Ronald McDonald House to Build 2nd House in Las Vegas

Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Greater Las Vegas is excited to announce the Home for Now Hope for Tomorrow capital campaign to build a second Ronald McDonald House in the Las Vegas valley. “For more than 23 years, the Las Vegas Ronald McDonald House has provided a ‘home away from home’ to families with sick or injured children,” said Alyson McCarthy, Chief Executive Officer of the Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Greater Las Vegas. “While the average length of stay is 11 nights, a third of our families stay longer than a month. Our second House will provide longer-term independent living spaces for families to call home while their child is in the hospital.”

The new House will feature eight patio homes, increasing capacity by 67% for nearly 3,000 additional nights each year. The building will also include an outdoor play area, a courtyard, a multi-purpose room for activities and relaxation, parking, and an office for RMHC staff.

RMHC Las Vegas has selected Grand Canyon Development Partners, NOVUS Architecture, and Builders

United to design and develop the Ronald McDonald House at O’Bannon.

“We are overjoyed to offer our services to help Ronald McDonald House Charities bring this new campus

to the Las Vegas Valley,” said Grand Canyon Development Partners President and Founder Sam Nicholson. “The wonderful work this organization provides the community has helped countless families, and now with the expansion plans, even more can benefit from their services.”

The new facility will be located one block away from the current House, at the corner of Edmond and O’Bannon streets in Las Vegas. It will sit on one acre of land that was generously donated by neighborhood resident John Paul R. Kernahan.

Design and construction of the Ronald McDonald House at O’Bannon is estimated at $4 million. To date, the charity has received more than $2 million in donations, including donation of the land valued at

$500,000, as well as a $500,000 donation from Jeunesse Kids. The charity is encouraging the community to support this new home for families with sick children. For more information on how to support this project through a donation or a naming opportunity, visit https://rmhlv.org/capital-campaign/.
